Are you ready to implement the new Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)?
Is your school prepared?
The time to implement NGSS has come. You should be working closely with your curriculum leaders or team leaders to make sure you are where you need to be.
Are you wondering where you should be?
Districts, Schools and Teachers in the 2018-2019 school year should:
- Be familiar with NGSS. Teachers should have already attended some professional development workshops or have taken the Next-Gen Science CTshort online course offered by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
- Make decisions as to what will be being taught in middle schools and high schools. NGSS has grouped middle school and high school standards together. This work should be a collaboration among all teachers. Curriculum maps are the easiest way to accomplish this task.
- Develop units and NGSS aligned lessons that are phenomena based. Keep in mind, phenomena should be interesting to your students.
