Willimantic -- The public is invited to attend a night of musical performances at a prism concert on Thurs., Mar. 16, 2017, at 7 p.m., at EASTCONN’s Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT), 896 Main St., Willimantic.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and $5 for alumni and military. The concert, developed by ACT Musical Director Katherine Popovic, will feature an eclectic mix of musical genres including German lieder, Italian arias, English art songs, musical theater, French jazz, French chansons, madrigals, American folk music and romantic choral music.
"The concept of a prism concert is that just as a prism reveals how white light is composed of many different colors, music is also composed of many different styles,” said Popovic. “In this performance setting, the ending note of a song overlays with the beginning note of the next song in the program. This creates a large continuous evening of music.”
The performing cast includes 11 ACT student soloists: Juliana Sliva, Brooklyn; Caitlyn Higgins, Colchester; Matt Hohman, Chaplin; Jocelyn Hoagland, Willimantic; Victoria Sun, Norwich; Sierra Cunningham, Willimantic; Olivia Burelle, Hampton; Nayeli Ramos, Willimantic; Leilany Ramos, South Windham; Sheanna Biewald, Willimantic; and Samantha Morowski, Danielson.
For ticket reservations and information, call ACT at 860-465-5636 ext.1. The Capitol Theater Box Office is also open one hour before showtime for walk-up ticket sales (cash or check only).
