EASTCONN Joins National Leaders in D.C. to Secure Legislative Support for Adult Ed.

EASTCONN Associate Director of Adult and Community Programs Kristin Hempel joined national adult education leaders in Washington, D.C., as part of the annual Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) Capitol Hill Day. 

Attendees met with staff from 70 different legislative offices in order to bring attention to the powerful, positive impacts adult education has on the economic and social well-being of communities.

Staff from the offices of U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, and U.S. Rep. Rosa  DeLauro met with COABE leaders.   U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney met personally with the Connecticut
delegation. Connecticut legislators pledged their continued support for adult education initiatives and programs across the state.
