HOMESCHOOL RESOURCES

For three hours, we will be hosting a homeschool STEM workshop focused on what manufacturing looks like today and how it connects to modern STEM fields. The experience will guide participants through an interactive, discussion-driven exploration of how manufacturing impacts everyday life, the technology used in today’s manufacturing environments, and the wide range of career pathways connected to engineering, design, robotics, automation, and skilled trades.

We will be running a LEGO-based engineering challenge designed to last approximately two to three hours. Learners will work through a structured, hands-on build challenge that emphasizes problem-solving, teamwork, design iteration, and critical thinking.

Participants will engage in a guided, hands-on introduction to modern manufacturing technologies using real equipment found in today’s industry, with discussion of how these tools connect to everyday products and careers.

Participants take part in a design-test-iterate challenge exploring concepts like stability and trajectory, with real-world connections to engineering and STEM careers.

Learners are introduced to additive manufacturing and choose an item to 3D print. They can take home their finished part at the end of the session.

Participants will learn how a microscope works, how to handle and focus it properly, and how to prepare and observe specimens. Through guided exploration, students will examine a variety of samples and build confidence using this essential scientific tool. All students will isolate one of their own cheek cells!
