Occupational Therapy

 

  • Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) address fine motor skills, visual motor skills, adaptive skills and sensory processing needs for individual students and for classroom support of Scientific Research-Based Interventions (SRBI). Service delivery models include direct services, consultation, sensorimotor groups, handwriting instruction and support for modifications of classroom tasks and life skills. EASTCONN therapists are available for full-time or part-time assignments.

     

    School-based Occupational Therapists work as part of the educational team to support preschool through young adult students in the following areas of development:

     

    • Fine motor
    • Visual motor integration
    • Visual perceptual skills
    • Sensory processing
    • Prevocational skills
    • Life skills

Lynn Toolan, COTA/L 

Lynn Toolan began working for EASTCONN in 2012. In addition to working in specialized programs, she has 10 years of public school experience. She received an associate degree from the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Manchester Community College in 2000 and maintains a national certification with NBCOT. Her comprehensive experience includes working with children and young adults ages 3-21 who have a wide range of needs including autism, emotional disabilities and developmental disorders in a school setting as well as post-secondary programs for young adults. As a result of continuing education and workshop attendance, she consistently enhances her skills to help her students meet their educational goals in such areas as sensory strategies, assistive technology, fine motor and self-help skills. Stacey B. Fulton, OTR/L, ATP, CAPS
 

Stacey Fulton is a registered, licensed occupational therapist in the state of Connecticut as well as an assistive technology professional and aging-in-place specialist. She received her bachelor's degree from Eastern Connecticut State University and a certificate in Occupational Therapy from Quinnipiac University. Ms. Fulton has worked as an occupational therapist for over 30 years in public schools, with a concentration in assistive technology for the past 20 years.  At EASTCONN, Ms. Fulton provides assistive technology services to school districts including AT evaluations, training and consultation to a variety of individuals with varying disabilities and age levels.
