Student Data Privacy

EASTCONN is committed to protecting the privacy of student data


EASTCONN operates in accordance with the Connecticut Student Data Privacy Act (CT PA 16-189), Conn. Gen. Stat. § 10-234aa, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Among other specifications, these regulations govern what information we retain, how we store it, how we use it, and who has access to it.


Uses of student data include informing instructional practice, improving the learning experience, supporting accreditation processes, and meeting obligations for required reporting to state or federal authorities. In some cases, this data is not stored in the district.


In all cases where data is stored outside the district, the service provider must comply with applicable regulations. Except in limited circumstances, a student privacy agreement indicating the service provider understands the applicable regulations is necessary.


All EASTCONN staff must submit a Software Request Form which can be found on the Employee Intranet Site. Existing agreements with service providers and those who do not require an agreement can be found under the Student Data Privacy List found below.


Parent/Guardian Rights Under CT PA 16-189

Parents may request the deletion or correction of student data by contacting Technology Solutions at 860-455-1527.
