EASTCONN Adult Education Opens New Downtown Putnam Location
Partnership with Putnam Schools brings high school completion and English language classes to Congregational Church
PUTNAM — EASTCONN Adult Education has opened a new location in downtown Putnam, expanding free educational opportunities for area residents seeking to complete their high school education or improve their English language skills.
The new site, located at Putnam Congregational Church on 175 Main Street, operates through a partnership with Putnam Schools and offers both morning and evening class sessions to accommodate various schedules. On-site childcare will be available to help parents attend classes.
"We are very excited to have EASTCONN's adult education programs in our building,” said Pastor Pam Briddle. “We are especially thrilled to provide a happy, safe and welcoming space for children as their parents work to further their education and pursue opportunities that will improve and enrich their family's futures.”
The downtown location will focus on high school completion and English Language Learning (ELL) classes, while Putnam Library will continue hosting EASTCONN's U.S. Citizenship preparation classes. These in-person offerings complement EASTCONN's existing virtual classes conducted via Zoom and in-person classes at other regional locations.
"We're thrilled to bring these essential educational services directly to the heart of Putnam," said Kristin Hempel, Director of EASTCONN Adult and Community Programs. "By partnering with local institutions like Putnam Schools and the Congregational Church, we're removing barriers and making education more accessible to our community."
Beyond core academic programs, EASTCONN offers industry certification training in customer service, healthcare, childcare, food service, and construction. These free training programs are available to qualified participants at locations throughout the region.
Prospective students can register online at www.eastconn.org/getstartedtoday or by calling 860-779-3770, or by email at
Classes at the new Putnam location enroll on a monthly basis and registration is now open.
