EASTCONN Presents 2nd Annual "Harmony in Diversity" Student Art Gala
HAMPTON, CT — EASTCONN proudly announces the return of its celebrated "Harmony in Diversity" Art Gala, now in its second year. This special event showcases the exceptional artistic talents of students from the agency's four special education programs: Bridges Community School and Educational and Vocational Center (EVC) in Columbia; EASTCONN Transition Academy (ETA) in Willimantic; and Northeast Regional Program (NRP) in Killingly.
The Art Gala will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the EASTCONN Conference Center, located at 376 Hartford Turnpike in Hampton. Community members, educators, families, and art enthusiasts are all invited to attend this uplifting celebration of creativity and inclusion. The event is free and open to the public.
Inspired by the opportunity to share their creative voices, students have devoted themselves to producing a collection of artwork spanning various mediums and styles. Visitors will experience everything from intricate ceramics to expressive portraits, serene photography to thought-provoking abstract pieces—each work offering insight into the students' unique perspectives and artistic journeys.
"The 'Harmony in Diversity' Art Gala represents our commitment to showcasing the incredible talents that thrive within our special education programs," said Kristin James, Assistant Director of Pupil Services at EASTCONN. "When students are given the opportunity to express themselves artistically, the results are truly inspiring."
The event features more than just visual displays. Attendees will enjoy complimentary refreshments while browsing high-quality reproductions of student artwork available for purchase. These reproductions can be ordered on-site, making it easy to bring home a meaningful piece that supports student artists.
New this year is "Artful Bowls for Your Soul", where visitors can purchase handcrafted ceramic bowls, paired with delicious soup-to-go generously donated by local restaurants. The new “Glow Forest” features a darkened room lit with blacklight to showcase brilliantly painted, glow-in-the-dark botanical artwork. Additionally, an exciting raffle will feature prizes donated by area businesses. All proceeds from artwork sales, the bowl fundraiser, and raffle will directly fund EASTCONN's special education art programs.
