Resources for Educators

The Kindergarten through Grade 3 Social, Emotional, and Intellectual Habits Framework represents the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that form an essential blueprint for college and career readiness to achieve academic success and social/emotional learning.

Common Core State Standards

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are a set of academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy that are grounded in evidence and designed to ensure that all students have the academic knowledge and skills they need in these core subjects to succeed after high school.

Connecticut Core Knowledge and Competency Framework for Professionals Working with Young Children and Their Families

The CT Core Knowledge and Competency Framework (CKCs) was developed to represent a shared understanding of what professionals across multiple early childhood roles should know and be able to do when working with young children and their families.  Also, a unique set of competencies for teachers and caregivers serving children and families in any setting is included. Shared core knowledge and competencies across multiple early childhood roles supports:

  • Common language across disciplines and roles;

  • A common thread of professional development expectations for competency growth;

  • A broader base of knowledge and understanding to better serve children and families; and,

  • Interdisciplinary training and support across higher education institutions, professional development entities, and public policy work across agencies.

Next Generation Science Standards

Within the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), there are three distinct and equally important dimensions to learning science. These dimensions are combined to form each standard—or performance expectation—and each dimension works with the other two to help students build a cohesive understanding of science over time.
